As suspected, your profile is stuck. You will have to bear the pain and phone your ISP ask them to get BT to reset your connection as your Profile is stuck on 135Kb.

I would say so. I can't see how a dodgy router can cause your Profile to hit rock bottom. It may be possible, but until they reset your line, your speed is not going to rise even if you have the best router money can buy.

If you want to give it a try, you could switch your router off for about an hour, then switch it back on. This may force a full reset with the exchange. If it does, your Profile will rise and keep rising while your line is stable until it hits its top speed. There is no guarantee that this will work, but it may be worth a try.

Re: can you please have a look at my results

ok after waiting for 25 minutes i got to speak to someone.
there refusing to go to bt to ask for a reset until i have eliminated everything my end and the router is the only thing left.

if my router is staying at a constant sync speed surley this means that the router is fine?

also shoudl the router sync speed be changing while conected or does it only change when my router is disconected and reconected? as the router has be synced at 7232kbps all day
      thanks

I would ring them up and ask for a MAC and go elsewhere.

When they ask why you need a MAC and why you want to leave, tell them, you have had enough of their poor service. The profile is stuck and it definitely needs resetting. Going to another ISP will reset it so to speak.

The BT system will resync the router if the noise margin rises above a certain point. Check your details again on the Bt Performance test. It is possible your Profile has reset. If it has not, it is not going to move till BT reset it.

Re: can you please have a look at my results

at last i have spoken to someone who is help full.
was on the phone for less than 30 seconds before he agreed that the ip profile was stuck and not going to iron itself out, as it had been like it for over a week.

why didnt the 3 other level2 tech's i spoken did not agree is beyond me.

anyway, they said he is going to report it now and bt should reset it in the next 2-6 hours.

hopefully thats it fixed, ill keep you all updated.

just like to a say a big thanks for all the replys and help, its much appreciated.

Re: can you please have a look at my results

ok seems that all is not quite fixed yet.
router has not been swithed off or disconected or over 3 days now and sync speeds every time i have checked have been 5500kbps - 6500kbps

but it seems my ip profile speed has already dropped back down to 0.750 kbps

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6368 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 25 db 6.5 db
Noise Margin 9 db 24 db

Download speedachieved during the test was - 642 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 200-1000 Kbps.
      Additional Information:
      Your DSL Connection Rate :6016 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 750 Kbps

Re: can you please have a look at my results

chances are sync rate has dropped for a second and gone back up which means the BT system needs to see sync high for up to 72hrs before raising the IP profile...looks like you've got a line issue somewhere...

CST can run a DLM check and it'll show sync rate over the last x days and can see if sync speed is fluctuating...
