      20mb Unlimited Upgrade

Ok last night I decided to upgrade from the 10mb package of SKY broadband to the 20mb package, because i did not want to be bound by the shoddy 10gb a month download allowance.

Before the upgrade i was on the 10mb service and always got a fantastic connection, it always connected at the full 10mb speeds and downloads were always between the 700kb/s and 1mb/s mark. The upload speed was also exactly what was promised on that package.

Now since the upgrade the router is connecting at around 4mb, now with my line attenuation I wouldnt expect to get the full 20mb service I'm not that deluded but however I would at least expect the same speeds as the 10mb package where I constantly had a full connection.

Below are the stats before upgrade and after upgrade and also a displaying of my current line attenuation (after upgrade)

Please take a look and offer suggestions as to why I'm not even getting half the speed that I did on the 10mb service. Answers would be greatly appreciated

i think sky train your line for 10 days so its capped for now, after 10 days if its not gone faster ring sky up they should configure your line

Oh I see, wish they had told me that when I upgraded.
Hopefully it will change after 10 days then

Knowing my luck that wont be the case though!

      Thanks for the reply man.

      Can anyone else confirm this?

yeah, an upgrade means DLM has to run again - it'll go up in the next 10 days...

      Re: 20mb Unlimited Upgrade

There is a bit of a hole in their procedure with this. When anyone has their line activated for the first time they are told DLM will run for 10 days in the activation letter. When a line is upgraded the user is not advised.

Remember, keep your router plugged in and powered up during the training period. Switching it off can upset the training process.

      Re: 20mb Unlimited Upgrade

Good to hear, hopefully all will be well in the next 10 days sometime.

However I did turn the router on an off a few times this morning as when I upgraded it told me to turn it off and then on again for the new speeds to take effect.

I will not turn the router off for at least another 9 days from now

      Thanks for the replies

      Re: 20mb Unlimited Upgrade

      New results:

      7005kbps (Down)
      796kbps (up)

The speeds have went up slightly but are still yet to reach the 10237kbps that i had on the 10mb service, getting a bit nervous as to whether it will go up again, its been 4 days since the first increase.

In that case you've still got some more speed to come, you may well get the 10mbps you had with Mid.
