      Sky Router resets itself

I was having problems with my Wireless connection to my Nokia N95 phone. When I went to 192.168.0.1 I found that my white Netgear v1 router had completely reset itself all the way down to reverting to the original sign on/password and original WPA encryption code. Any ideas how and why this happened?

Has anyone pressed the reset button in on the router recently?

      Re: Sky Router resets itself

Mine was OK at 23.30 last night, but at 08.30 this morning it was completely reset. It is left on 24/7 and had an uptime of 600+ hours. It now shows an uptime of about 6 hours so it reset at about 05.00 today. At the same time my noise margin (typically 7.8-8.1) has dropped to 5.8 but my surfing speed seems relatively table. So what caused it to completely reset overnight?

This may happen if the firmware is updated. Has yours been updated, what is your current firmware version?

If you have not already done so, turn off Remote Management.

Thanks Tom. Didn't even know you could turn off Remote management! However mine wasn't switched ON in the first place.

      Firmware is V1.03.87

The other oddity (unrelated) is going to 'Edit' doesn't allow the editing of the post title (although you can change it, it's just not 'saved' and displayed) so the title is missing a character!

That's the current one. I did not really think there had been an update, as news like this is always leaked. Netgear have just released a firmware update, so there may be a new Sky one on the way.

      Re: Sky Router resets itself

I have had the Netgear router completely reset itself to factory settings a couple of times over the years. The white one and the black one. Although never had it on the Sagem router.

When you say reset, do you mean it put all your settings back to default or do you mean it resynced with the exchange. If you are meaning the latter, that can happen when you are changed from G.DMT to ADSL2+ or when DLM is running on your line. This is not a reset, as experienced by the OP.
