      Bit of help?

Hi guys. I think i have a bit of a problem. Ok I've noticed that in the past week or so web pages starting to take a while to load and then i used uTorrent last night and i was getting poor speeds of 400kps and while that was running i couldn't even load up a web page.

Anyway so i thought i'd try a speed test and the results are as follows:

This is compared to the 12-14Mb/s i was usually getting up untill a few week ago. My router stats are as follows:

      System Up Time: 2373:54:59

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 2613192 2480341 0 63497 6908 170:27:10
      LAN 11626393 13863427 0 984 11816 2373:54:59
      WLAN 20846696 13415679 0 8070 0 2373:54:32
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 18363 kbps 1187 kbps
Line Attenuation 20.5 db 9.1 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 7.7 db

I know it says my upsteream is 18363 but i'm not seemingly recieving that. could it be a problem with my laptop? I get similar results whether its wired or wireless. thanks for the help anyway.

If you are not using vista or win 7 then you should try TCP Optimiser that should help with throughput speed.
On utorrent you need to limit the down and up speed so that you can still use the internet at the same time.

Looking at the router stats though you would say that there is definately not a problem on the broadband side of things right?

Your stats look fine. there may be errors building up but there is no way for us to tell.

Try downloading and running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com.

Open a Command Prompt and type netstat /b this will tell you what you have running. Make sure you recognise everything.

When i type that into command prompt it comes up with 'this operation requires elevation' What does that mean?

      Re: Bit of help?

That means you have to have Administrator rights. To do this in Vista/Win 7-
Press the Windows key and type com, then press Ctrl+Shift-Enter then accept the UAC.
