As misfit says, O2 are very good but only if you can get their own LLU packages, if you cannot then I would stay with Sky and just pay for the pckage you need.

Yes I have an incident logged with them since 16/01/2010 but no response as yet, will let you know when I do.

However in my experience the words "Sky" and "Support" are not compatible when used in the same sentence.

As for the words "Broadband", "Bandwith" and "Gigabytes", they do not seem to appear in the dictionary used bt Sky's contact centre agents. They use them but clearly do not understand what they mean!

Thanks for your responses it's appreciated.

      Regards
      Laurei.

I love the way SKY never publicized how to get emails onto your own computer (POP settings for Outlook etc) - I expect they're happy for people to increase their monthly downloads by accessing all emails online, every time ?

Yes they do, it's on their website.

You only download the headers when using webmail, you only download the full e-mail when you open it.

Using POP3 and a seperate client, you download the whole thing regardless so if you get a lot of spam etc you may end up actually downloading more as you don't get the option to delete it before you download it as you do with Webmail.

      1) Note sky usage amount
      2) Reboot machine to ensure network connection is started from scratch
      3) use internet as normal for a day
      4) at end of day, go to your network connection icon (bottom right-hand corner, click then "network and sharing centre", then find your internet connection and click "view status")
      5) Note down the amounts of the inbound and outbound traffic
      6) shutdown the machine, switch off the modem to be doubly sure
      7) The next morning, check what the sky usage says and compare figures

If vastly different, threaten to cancel with Sky broadband, should wake them up!
Guys thought i would post an update after measuring my usage as described by mcphailan above, the error seems to be on my part and not skys, measuring usage this way is almost identical to the rate of increase on the sky usage tool.

So it was actually me (and lack of tech knowledge), i compaired my usage this way to how i was previously doing it through mcafee traffic monitor and same significant difference as before, so obviously the mcafee traffic monitor is not an accurate way to measure usage.

Just didn't think i was using as much for normal browsing but i suppose it makes sense as websites are getting 'more fancy' (tech term!). I always thought that to us GBs worth i would have to be downloading movies / music etc which i don't - learn something new every day, feel slightly stupid giving sky a hard time but hey im sure they are used to it....

      Cheers again

It's not sky's responsibility if you happen to use an e-mail client. Even so, sky have instructions on the sky help centre on sky.com. Also, you're still using bandwidth downloading to outlook etc.

I hate hearing e-mail in work from customers... a part of me dies each time because it's so painstakingly boring!

same here! i always try to explain that ive never even seen what outlook express looks like and im just reading word for word from the settings on the sky help centre but i generally just get "im paying for sky emails and you need to get them working"

1 hour and lots of typing mistakes letter........... you can send and receive mail(and i could have helped 10 people fix their internet connection by now)

it depresses me thinking about it

Don't get any Spam thanks - Google mail filters it out nicely and the occasional one that gets through I will label as spam at source (i.e. on webmail), not local client.
