Angry Sky Broadband Everyday - throttling?!?

      Hi Everyone,

Over the past few days it would seem that sky are throttling my connection down to stupid speeds <1mbit which has kind of surprised me as I have checked sky's terms and conditions and they only do traffic management on sky connect which I am clearly not on.

I don't download anything big, no bittorrents or anything illegal just web browsing, listening to music etc so I know I am well within my 10gb allowance.

Has anyone else experienced this as all my searching on google and here only points to sky connect having this 'feature'?

Can we see your router stats?
Just so we know what speed your router is connected at to see if your sync speeds are whats causing the problem.

You should have the maximum speed available to Everyday. Your line could be on DLM or simply adjusting to ADSL2+. Post your stats for a diagnosis. From your normal position and from the Test socket if you have one.

I was on DLM mode when I joined but I think I should be off that now. Here are my stats from the master test socket.

      Downstream Upstream
      Rate (Kbps) : 10236 605
      SNR Margin (dB) : 8.4 18.2
      Attenuation (dB) : 20.5 10.4
      Output Power (dBm) : 18.4 1.5

If those are the stats from the TEST socket then you have a noisey line, you should be getting double that speed.

When you remove the faceplate from the master socket to expose the TEST socket beneath, are all the other phone sockets dead?

Re: Sky Broadband Everyday - throttling?!?

He is on Mid Smithy so that is the maximum he can get get. His noise margin is well over the default so he should be OK. There could be a problem if it were upgraded to Max.

Can you do a Speedtest on Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester and post the result?

Do you connect wirelessly? If so, how about via ethernet connection - is your throughput still slow?
