New connection speeds, is this normal ?

      Hi all,

I have just setup the netgear router supplied by Sky for the Max LLU service & am only getting a 4mbps downstream where as my last provider was giving me 15mbps.

      Stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4091 kbps 510 kbps
Line Attenuation 19 db 11 db
Noise Margin 26 db 25 db

      Previous stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15227 kbps 855 kbps
Line Attenuation 18 db 4.5 db
Noise Margin 14 db 6 db

Is there a possibility that I will get faster or not ?

      Many Thanks

      JWAR

Re: New connection speeds, is this normal ?

With your attenuation I would have expected the full 20mb.

Have you tried the test socket? If not give it a go and post your stats again from there.

Is this advisable during the DLM ?

Just took the risk & tried the test socket & got the exactly the same results lol

It won't do any harm as long as you are not doing it a lot, chances are you have a problem and will need to get manually configured anyway.

Do you have extensions? If so check that all the sockets are dead when the faceplate is removed. It would be very unusual not to see a difference if you have extensions. Your speed will not change, but other figures should.

I have another socket in 1 of the bedrooms but the broadband is connected directly into the main line.
