      Really Slow Broadband

      Hi guys

I am currently on the up to 8Mb broadband package with the download limit of 40GB a month.

Just over a month ago I was downloading at speeds of around 500KB p/s which works out to be around 4Mb p/s which is fine for my needs.

However, for the last month, all of a sudden my line has dropped dramatically and I am now downloading at a consistent speed of about 45 KB p/s! (Which works out less than 0.5 Mb p/s)

It is difficult to browse web pages never mind online games and downloading software!

I have rung sky and they advised me to try the test socket which I did and try different equipment (tried brand new micro filterand cabling). This did not make a difference.

They then sent me a new router and this still did not make a difference to the line.

They have done tests at there end and say that they are downloading at about 5Mb p/s!

What could be the problem I am confused now?

      Thanks for replies.

Is the phone line making any crackling noises? Or any noise?

      Re: Really Slow Broadband

It used to before I replaced the micro filter with a brand new one and now that has stopped. This still had no change on the download speed
