      Broadband speed slows down alot in evening.

      Hi,

      Over the past month and a half in the evenings just after 6pm (ive timed it) my internet speed to slow down alot, it will go from 4mb to less than 1mb. It also effects me when im playing online games. i will be laggy after that but my ping will remain the same.

      Can anyone help me?

      Yes im sure im on Max.

      Line Attenuation 50.5 db 27.9 db
      Noise Margin 7.6 db 5.5 db

      Yes, you are on Max, but your speed is a bit low. Can you plug into your Test socket, link below and post your stats from there. It looks like your noise margin may be dropping causing a drop in your speed.

      These stats show your connection is being effected by your internal wiring. Fitting and using a filtered faceplate would fix that. XTE-2005 Filtered Master Faceplate - ADSL Nation

      In the meantime, if it is not too inconvenient, you could try leaving it in the Test socket until this evening, see if your connection has improved.

      Ok thanks for the reply, i will leave it in and check if it improves if it doesnt i will buy that filtered master faceplate

      If it does not improve, a filtered faceplate will make no difference. It will mean the problem is either your router or the external line. If it does improve, fit the faceplate then phone Sky to have your line reconfigured. Your should get at least a 1.5Mb increase.
