slow sky connect speeds plus ps3

just recentley my sky connect broadband as dropped to about 1mb from about 6mb and after reading different threads i see that sky have problems with the ps3 network and class online playing as a p2p . is this still true! when i rang sky helpline the bloke told me that the low peak time speeds are nothing to do with them and it is bt capping the line , when i questioned him how i pay sky for the internet and it is nothing to do with sky he said well all you do is stick with it or leave then straight away put me through to sky leaving section

are sky trying to rid of all sky connect people or is he telling the truth about bt

any ideas on the playstation problem also

Re: slow sky connect speeds plus ps3

      It is nearly true

Sky buy capacity off BT for their customers, because Sky have not bought enough, the network grinds to a near halt during the busy peak periods (5-midnight).

So in theory, BT won't allow more capacity but that is because Sky won't pay for it.

He is right about one thing though, the only soloution is to leave. Get your MAC code and move to a better ISP. If you can get an LLU provider then that would be best but if you are stuck with one of the BT rebadged networks then try:-

Plusnet (they have a specific gamers package)
      ADSL24
      Zen
      IdNet

All these use the same BT network but manage the connections much better. For the PS3m the Plusnet one will work a treat.

Ok, I think i've found it.

Although I wouldn't choose any of these as my first choice if o2 & Be were available I would take Talk Talk but only if you can go on the LLU package.

Non LLU Talk Talk is poor but I haven't heard many bad things about their LLU, the people I know who have it say it's ok.
