Re: Whats happened to my speed

There seems to be noise on your line. You should connect to the test socket if you have one and repost the stats from there on here, link below in my sig with further details. You are looking for an increase in the noise margin.

Is there any noise when you are on the phone, like pop crackles etc.

If not then there seems to be a problem with your external line.

You noise margin may have dropped considerably due an interference problem, possibly REIN, to a point where the router would have lost the connection and resynched at a lower speed. When the issue disappeared the SNR margin would have crept back up but you speed stays the same. Therefore rebooting your router resets the speed and SNR margin back to their default position.

You should use router stats lite with monitors your noise margin over time and can show if the noise happens at the same point everyday, if so you then would need to phone sky to get someone to check for a REIN problem, these can be hard to track down. Type into google and download the program.

Do you have any extensions? If you do, check that they have no dial tone when you are plugged into the Test socket.
