      Exceeding my download limit...

      Hi All

After recently moving house i have chosen Sky for my broadband as i am quite limited to broadband providers at my new house (which is a shame as previously i had 20meg Virgin media optic broadband - it was very good).

The only package Sky could offer me was Sky Connect (due to the exchange) with a 40gig limit.

I download quite a bit, and was wondering what happens if/when i go over the 40gig limit?

      Thanks

      Alex

DO NOT GO ON SKY CONNECT!!!!!!!

It is over subscribed and you will be lucky to be able to download anything between pm - midnight.

      Look elsewhere.

      Re: Exceeding my download limit...

i wish i had the option mate. I could of gone with Plusnet - extremely poor reviews and it was 15 per month for 40gig, and then i could of gone with BT, which was 22.99 for 40gig.

It seems the exchange is very poor around here, a friend of mine works down the road for the local NHS office in the IT department, and he has said that connections speeds have been poor for ages.

I got Sky Connect for 10 per month with my Sky package, and i download most of my stuff during the day, so fingers crossed i guess.

You'll be extremely lucky to get anywhere near the download limit. Sky Connect is so heavily throttled that'll you'll never reach 40Gb in a month

Seriously, read this (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users take the advice here and leave well alone.

Check here SamKnows Broadband - Availability - Broadband Availability Checker to see if you have any altenative LLU providers.

Don't worry about going over your limit, if you download more than 1.3Gb in any one day you will be very severely throttled. You will not have much chance of downloading much more. The proper price for Connect is 17, so it shows how desperate they are when they give you such a large discount.

seriously you'll find dial up much faster in the evenings than connect! We all strongly advise you to go to anyone expect sky connect!!!! I'd suggest O2 Access but they are now over subscribed as well and my evening connection is getting worse and worse, still better than connect tho! plus O2 admit the problem and say they are going to do something about it soon, unlike sky who wont admit anything that might loose them custom!
