1 - the BT speed estimator is well out of date
2 - post your router stats (specifically the line attenuation)
3 - yes, you should wait the 10 days, it's there for a reason.

      ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 8mb to 9mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.

Re: Sky "i" Light not working And not getting promised 20mbps Speed

You are on the starting speed for max/unlimited it would seem, so it should rise during the training period (DLM). Don't reboot the router and make sure all sockets in the house are properly filtered with no extension cables.

Edit: Whoops, you mentioned the 'i light' (internet light) is not lit on the router. I'll type another reply in a tick regarding this.

Yep, same advice above still applies. Your actual speed will be about 80-90% of your router sync speed.

I wouldn't worry about the error code - that means authentication error but it will sometimes return strange error codes with no sync. Just to confirm - you have no internet light or is it solid amber?

Ok, we'll need a bit more information:

      1. How many telephone sockets are in use in the house?
      2. What is connected to each telephone socket. Best typing it like so - microfilter > ADSL cable & phone line etc.
      3. Any extension cables in use in the set-up?
      4. Confirm that in every telephone socket in use that you have a microfilter connected directly to each tel point (NOT a blank white two way splitter, but an ADSL filter)
      5. If all of the above seems to be spot on, then try connecting up to the test socket (link beneath)

How to test your ADSL in the Master Socket
