      Sky Confusion

OK heres the deal. Been with sky for 2 years now and its been a love / hate relationship.

From mid 2007 - mid 2008 all was well. In August 2008 got my delays reduced for better ping and had to go from 2.0mb to 1.5mb for stability.

Then 3 weeks ago I got the tell tale signs of DLM. So I rang up and after 30 mins talking to tier 1 I got to tier 2.

She reset me back to 2.0mb and reset delays.
I usually get 70-90 ping before delays reduced, then 50-60 with delays reduced. Now im getting 30 ms for bbc.co.uk, and im back on 2mb and the line is very stable.

Am i missing somthing here or how did it just get so good?

      Stats:

Connection Speed 1856 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 20.0 db

I think you have been moved from ADSL2+, which DLM would put you on, back to G.DMT which suits your line better. When you phoned you obviously did not get an 'airhead'.

I need to look at that jargon post again, i thought ADSL2+ was the one that give good pings and G.DMT interleaved was the reason we got high pings.

Theoretically it does, but it does not work too well on long lines, which yours is according to your attenuation.

Yeah 3+ miles. I thought attenuation was (lower = more download speed, higher = less download speed)

But oh well better like this and I hope they keep it.
