    think there is something wrong with my broadband

    This is a discussion on think there is something wrong with my broadband within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; http://www.speedtest.net/result/603983872.png im on sky everyday/ mid broadband , these are my router stats can anyone help : sorry i'll repost...

      The only stats we need are like these (example)

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 11131 kbps 765 kbps
      Line Attenuation 33.5 db 15.9 db
      Noise Margin 8.0 db 11.5 db

      Please delete what you have posted as there is sensitive personal info there.

      To get your stats like example above
      Netgear DG834GT

      Netgear DG834GT

      1. Log into the web interface, http://192.168.0.1
      2. Click 'Router Status'
      3. Click 'Show Statistics'

      For the sky variant of the DG834T router, the default:

      login is: admin

      password is: sky

      Line Attenuation 47.5 db 27.1 db
      Noise Margin 7.6 db 17.0 db

      i live quite close to my nearest exchange...

      Plug into your test socket, see link below, and post your stats from there.

      Your line attentuation suggests otherwise.

      oh i have two phone socket at my house , the one which has the test connector says ntl on the front and is not live ( coud this be my master socket still even tho its not active ), my other socket which i plug my modem is alittle smaller , older ....so sorry i cannot plug in and get stats from test socket....what should i do

      Open up the smaller socket to see if it looks something like this: http://www.telephonesuk.co.uk/images/LJU2_1A_rear.jpg and take note of what wires are connected. If you have anything connected to the 3 terminal (the ring wire) remove as it's no longer required and is a bit of a broadband killer.

      Next, make sure when you close the socket back up that the first thing plugged in is your micro filter and then the router and repost your stats. Ensure you dont have any other cable splitter plugged into the socket first, such as the one provided for a Sky+ box.

      ok yes inside it did look like that picture

      i have four coloured wires coming out of a bigger grey one ( orange, blue, green, brown )

      orange goes to no. 2 & bue goes to no. 5

      ive removed the splitter for my sky +

      these are my stats

      Phone Sky tell them you have made improvements to your wiring and want your connection reconfigured for its best speed. You should see about 7 Mb.
