Well broadband is usually sold on an upto service so you will be on an upto 8mb package. Speed is dependant mainly on distance and line quality from the exchange.

That said, your problem is the fact that Sky Connect is over capacity and nothing you do from your end will cure this.

The only option you have is to leave Sky Connect and go to a better managed network.

There are many, many threads all with the same problem that you should have a trawl through.

      Thanks for the tip

I was beginning to think the same myself. Reckon I'll give BT a try. To be fair tech support from Sky told me they may be better as they own the kit and give their traffic priority, don't know if this is true??

Post your router stats as we may be able to give you an indication of what speeds you should expect. Also check to see if you have any LLU providers at your exchange - SamKnows Broadband - Availability - Broadband Availability Checker

Don't go with BT there are much better out there using their equipment

      Try:- IdNet, Plusnet, Zen, ADSL24.

Hmmm! Aren't Plusnet owned by BT?

Mind you, if they can do the job better and cheaper than BT then good luck to them!

Re: Paying for a service I'm not receiving...

Looking at the time of the OP's speedtest, there is something amiss apart from throttling. At this time he should be getting full speed. Post your stats from the normal router position and from the Test socket. links in the Quick Links box on the Left.

Plusnet have been owned by BT for some years, but are run as a completely independent company. They do however have a much better relationship with BT and BTO than Sky have.
