      Getting less than 512k

Our Sky Connect broadband is really very slow. Thinking of moving ISPs.

We are on Sky Connect and an online speed test shows a speed of less than 512k on a line that can take 5Mb.

Has anyone got any solutions for this. To be honest I think a new ISP is on the cards as 512k poor show for the price Sky charge.

      Greetings,

First off you should post your router stats,
Information can be found here : How to get your router statistics

Once you have posted the stats we will be able to offer more advice,
How ever at this point remember that sky run traffic managment on the network from 5pm to midnight and this could be a cause,
How ever if your connection is slow at all times of the day post your stats,

A little faster. I know they use traffic management but even so the speed is unacceptable. The settings in the Sky Router show its running at 2Mb and the Sky.com website shows we can get a max of 1.5Mb and another website shows that we can get 5Mb.

Hi to do a speed test for the Sky Connect package you use the BT test click on link Bt Updated Speed Tester gives all the information about the test then click on Test Result to do the test a good idea is to time and date the test for reference then copy and paste to your next post.

Look on the bottom of the sky router. It will have a MAC address and a serial number.

      Username =

      MAC address @skydsl

      e.g. 004B208F@skydsl

      Domian name =

      Serial number

      Then click go.

Hi have read the instruction on how to on the link Bt Updated Speed Tester have way down the page
User Name:* Lan Mac Code Bottom of Router (without the colons) then @sky.com or @skydsl (works with both in user name)
You can also find the LAN MAC in your router status page best to copy and paste it to avoid mistyping.
