      Feeling ripped off already

Today I upgraded from Sky Broadband Everyday to the Unlimited package. And was told the process would take 72hours to complete, but when I user the order tracker, it says the task is complete.

I did think the change would be pretty much instant...

Anyway I was promised 6mb as I'm currently only on 4mb, still no change, stuck at 4mb, not sure what to do now? I want my promised 6mb lol.

You are on the startup speed for Unlimited, DLM should start within 72 hours and will increase the speed until it reaches it's maximum stable speed.

If you post your router stats we can give you a good idea what that will be.

      Re: Feeling ripped off already

I would imagine after DLM you should see nearer 8mb

Just remember to leave the router connected, do not power it down of keep resyncing it.

      Re: Feeling ripped off already

I leave the router on 24/7

If it ever loses sync it's through no fault of my own

I was getting a rock solid 5mb but somehow ended up with just shy of 4.1mb

I hope I come out with a better speed, so you reckon my chances are high? What if they dont? I cant understand how I've lost 92k of my upload speed already lol...

As stated, let DLM do its stuff and if you still have "issues" give Sky a call and they will sort it.

      Re: Feeling ripped off already

I just did a check on my landline using BE Broadband, they claim I should get around 11mb

But could I with my stats?

You can get BE broadband on 01706xxxxxx
It's probably going to be this fast:

      11 megs*

      Re: Feeling ripped off already

I doubt it, If you get your stats from your test socket that may improve your chances.

I really don't mean to be rude but surely you must have looked into all this before you signed with Sky?

In your original post you stated that you were after 6Mb and Smithy99 has stated (rightly or wrongly... no insult intended, Smithy) that you could achieve 8Mb when DLM has finished its job. So let DLM do what it has to do. When DLM has ended and if you're still not happy with your speeds then phone Sky and they will fix it manually according to the quality of your line.

I have been through this process and it works (except I am arguing with Sky about the finessing of it all) as Sky's customer solutions dept. has been mostly very good in my experience.

      Is patience still a virtue?

      Re: Feeling ripped off already

What you have to remember is that speed is mainly due to the distance and quality of the line, It does not matter which ISP you go with assuming they are LLU, the line is the same and so the speeds should all be similar.

So in effect, whatever speed Be/O2 can give you, so can Sky.
