      https connection problems

Prior to Tuesday 13th October 2009 I was able to connect from my pc, laptop and iphone using my Sky wireless network by remote https connection to my office server / pc.
Since this date the connection is no longer possible. My office server network is fine as other colleagues can connect, indeed one of them using a Sky brodband connection, via a different telephone exchange.
I can still connect using my iphone if I turn off the wi-fi capability and use the 3G mobile network, proving connection is possible.
Sky technical help have been nothing more that useless, blaming everything and everyone but themselves!!
They have indicated however that on the above date they changed equipment in my local exchane over to an SVBN network using dynamic instead of static IP addresses, this frankly means very little to me !!
I am using the black Netgear DG934G Router (not hacked or anything).
This problem is so frustrating and as I do not appear to be getting anywhere with Sky I would appreciate any assistance that can be given.
      Thanks

      Re: https connection problems

Have you checked that you are using the correct IP for your connection?

using dynamic instead of static IP addresses, this frankly means very little to me !!
It will mean little to anyone else, Sky have always used dynamic IP addresses, no matter what network you were on, they have never given fixed IPs. What it means is that if your router is reset or rebooted there is a good chance your IP address will change. This does not always happen, but more often than not it does. As they do not supply fixed IP addresses, which you may need for RDC to work properly, the best way round this is to use a DynamicDNS address. You can find out how to sign up for a free account here-
DynDNS.com: Free DNS Hosting, E-mail Delivery, and VPS Hosting

I hope this is of some help.

What did you expect? Sky don't support business use so you'd get nowhere with them...so long as you can get online then that's where the support ends...

Thanks for you helpful (not) comments IAmNottheEnemy.
Sky are now resolving the issue which is a problem with their SVBN equipment being incompatible with Microsoft Small Business Server
