Wireless Network - One PC can connect, the other can't

I have a Sky wireless broadband router. My phone line went down the other day and a BT engineer fixed this on Friday. Since then, however, my laptop can connect to the internet without a problem but my desktop cannot. It recognises the Sky wireless network but won't connect to it. Clearly, the network is functioning well as the laptop accesses the internet without a problem.
Anyone had a similar issue? All suggestions gratefully received.

What error message are you getting? What OSs are you using.

I doubt if the phone being down has anything to do with it, it is probably a coincidence that you are having problems.

Desktop is XP and the laptop is Vista. The wireless icon on the desktop only shows one bar and, if you hover over it, says that the wireless connection is unavailable. When I bring up the window, however, the Sky network is there but when I try to connect to it, nothing happens.

Try changing the Channel in the router. Start at 13 and work your way down. Also while you are in the wireless setting, change the Mode to 'g only'.

Many thanks. Changing channel seems to have done the trick.
