Considering upgrading my connection - help!

      Hi there,
I have been thinking of upgrading my sky BB package to the unlimited one. I'm currently on the basic one you get for free when you get all 3 services (2mb).

I must say that my connection is fairly reliable and that the speeds are quite consistent.

I'm wondering whether or not it would be worth upgrading to the unlimited package, when the max would do it just fine.

im looking at my router stats (netgear dg834gt) and under Line attenuation it says 37.0 db, and the noise margin is 21.1 db. Just wondering how good that means my connection is?

if i do upgrade to unlimited, what are the realistic speeds i would be able to receive? should i just go for the max option instead? will max give me the fastest possible speed my line can achieve?

      Thanks in advanced
      Ash

With those stats you should see about 9-10mb on unlimited, remember another benefit is that there is no limits etc so it really is as it says "Unlimited".

thanks for the reply. i think that a 10Gb limit would suit me just fine.I'm not a serial downloader.
would i still achieve the same kind of downstream speeds with the MAX option?

On sky unlimited the max upto speed is 20Mb and I don't believe sky do static IP's providers like o2/Be offer that option.

With your attenuation there will not be much difference in speed between Everyday(Mid) and Unlimited(Max), about 9-10Mb*. If you think you don't need the unlimited download, go for Everday. If you find you need more than 10Gb every month, you can upgrade your connection at no cost. If you want to downgrade within your contract it costs you about 25.

*If you have a very good line you may get considerably more than 10Mb on Max, but don't count on it. Better to start on Mid and upgrade if the speed is there.
