      Can someone please help i am going insane!!!!

      HI

      CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.

      MY NOISE MARGIN HAS BEEN LOW FOR WEEKS AND GETS WORSE AND WORSE AS THE DAY GOES ON AND IF LEFT ON OVERNIGHT CUTS OFF AND RESTARTS LOWER SPEEDS AND GETS LOWER AND LOWER ETC ETC ETC. NOW I KNOW YOUR THINKING WE HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE BUT PLEASE HEAR ME OUT AS THIS IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. NOW WHEN I USE THE PHONE MY NOISE MARGIN GOES TO 0 INSTANTLY THEN WHEN I COME OFF PHONE BACK UP TO 3 OR 4.

      ITS DRIVING ME MAD AND THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE THE 3RD TIME A BT ENGINEER HAS BEEN OUT TO LOOK AT IT IN A ROW AND I CANT AFFORD TO TAKE ANYMORE TIME OFF WORK. THE LAST GUY THOUGHT IT WAS A FAULT BETWEEN THE CABINET AND MY HOUSE BUT RULED OUT ANYTHING INTERNAL OR THE EXCHANGE. I HAVE LISTED MY STATS BELOW FROM TEST SOCKET BEFORE USING PHONE AND DURING USING PHONE....PLEASE HELP!!!!!

      You have a low resistance fault (or high, cannot remember which)

      They are a pain to catch but it is usually either at the juntion at the top of the pole or in the green cabinet.

      my connections sort of doing the same, i got between 7-8Mbps sync in the router with an attenuation a bit lower than yours (42db downstream) and my SNR kept going to 0 - 4db after 7 o clock till about 12pm, so i kept rebooting the router, but now the router is only syncing at 6140kbps, everytime i reboot its exactly the same speed,and the SNR never drops below 3db now its around 12db in the day, 3db at night, i hope my speed goes faster after a few days, coz i dont want 6140kbps sync i want my 7-8Mbps again, the line was pretty stable at 7-8Mbps, so im gonna ring sky up in a few days if it has'nt sorted

      i dont have much confidence in the bt engineers to be honest the last two i had were total muppets and didnt have a clue and the first one to come out was asking me what i thought it was....i mean for F sake..lol

      will mention it today and hope to god it gets sorted as its really getting to me now

      Hi

      Well bt engineer came out yesterday and sorted fault up to now anyway..lol

      Too many faults to mention but something worth mentioning was that when he had his router on it was showing my line at between 5.9 and 6.2 meg and a db reading of 7.5...however when i use skys router shows me at 5.3 and 7.1 ratio...why is that?????

      Different routers are able to negotiate different speeds. Unfortunately the ones Sky supply are not the best as has been shown by others using their own router. The chipset in the router plays a large part and if it is matched to the chipset in the exchange, a better speed results.
