      sky unlimited - help

After being mis-sold the connect package i managed to get myself moved onto the unlimited package which i was happy with as i would be able to get max speeds at all times but now that i have it the speeds at off peak times are only about half of what i was getting on connect.

on connect i would get on average about 6.7mb download off peak and 0.5mb at peak times.

Since it was changed i only get 3.5mb at all times.

I appreciate that their may be a line training period but what concerned me the most was that in my router status before the change it read 8046kbs for the downstream, now it only reads 4096 which i found strange.

any ideas if this is normal or is something not right with the new b/band

4mb is the starting speed for Max/Unlimited. It should start to rise once line training kicks in. When were you upgraded?

only today. I suspected the line training might be the issue tbh.

It was the router status that was confusing me as when i was only getting 0.5mb on connect the router still said 8046kbps but now its at 4096. oi take it sky will change that as the training continues.

Also how long does the training period usually last.

Line training can happen on upgrade or even weeks after. It will typically run for a few days or even up to 10 days. During the period, make sure your physical set-up is spot on. This means you have filters connected directly into each telephone socket in the house that is in use and no extension rj11 cables in use for the DSL. If you have a rather good line, then DLM (the line training process) should hopefully leave your line near to its highest stable speed. If not, then call sky and ask for it to be reconfigured.

And also remember not to unplug or turn off the router at any stage during the 10 day training period, it can sometimes take longer than this, if you are not happy with the end speed you can always phone and change it once finished.
