      Broadband MAX - Hardly usable during evening

      Hello,

      I've got Sky Broadband max, and it's been fine for well over 6 months, i've been very happy with the speed and stable connect I've been getting, with at least 450kbps download speed at any point in time.

      Over the last 3 days, my internet connection has not been usable after 7pm, until around midnight sometimes 2-3am.

      It's getting to the point that I cannot even connect to an FTP server, as it keeps timing out -The "Sky User Broadband Speed Test" which has taken 10 minutes to load, is currently at 20%, saying I have a download speed of 5Kbps.

      I've restarted my router, turned if off for an hour, nothing helps. The following is my stats;

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 4512 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 52.0 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 6.4 db 18.0 db

      They are almost identical to during the day, where I get download speeds of 450Kbps+ but now, pages load so slowly, I cant view yourtube, and flash takes HOURS to download. Speedtest would not even load correct after 30 minutes.

      Does anyone know whats wrong?

      Yes, you're not on Max you are on the Connect package.

      I don't think that has any relevance as to which package you're on. Your router stats, however, are telling me you're on Connect.

      Log in to the MySky page and check there or failing that contact Sky.

      You are on Connect, if you have a look throught e forum you will see the Connect package is very poor being throttled from about 5 to 12 each day. There are several threads concerning this - this one in particular.

      Put your exchange name into this page and it will tell you if Sky is available on your exchange.-

      Hello,

      Yes, you are quite correct all - I was on Connect, but being charged for Max. I've just phoned Sky up and they are upgrading me within the next 3 days.

      I'll believe that when I see it...Connect is normally 17 pm unless your exchange is going to be unbundled within 6 months of you signing up at which case it's 5...

      They were charging me 10 for broadband (The price of MAX when I signed up). When I signed up, I was told I was going on MAX right away, guess someone pushed the wrong button and put me on connect instead?

      EDIT: I'm on the Herne Bay Exchange (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NDHBA) - I've been enabled since: Sky / Easynet: Enabled as of 28/06/2007

      Chances are it was over subscribed at the time - hence you going on Connect...

      The upgrade can happen even on the same day, once it has changed over don't forget to post the stats on here to see how they are doing.
