      Slow Speeds/Speed halved

      Hey Guys, for some unknown reason (too me) the internet speed has literally halved itself, I'm unsure wether SKY has capped me or something else, but I was getting around 250Kb/s-300Kb/s now i'm struggling to get 150Kb/s, and this running into a big problem when I'm trying to game

      We have the following hooked up;
      1x Desktop Computer (ethernet)
      1x Netbook (wireless)
      1x Philips WACS7500 (wireless)
      1x Blackberry (wireless)

      Somethings I have noticed:

      Last Wednesday I bought Battlefield 2 for the PC, and I needed some patches to play, anyway, much to my surpise my internet speed started at 3.5MB/s and the (every second) decreased by 1Kb/s, until it reached 150 Kb/s and it kept that way,

      This screenshot was taken via the http://192.168.0.1/ connection status;

      .. and this is from todays speed-test;

      Any-help will be greatly appreciated

      Can you get the stats again but this time connect the router to the test socket (see sig for details).

      I'm sorry, but I do not have a Test socket, I have one of the slimline boxes, which do not have a test socket.

      Re: Slow Speeds/Speed halved

      Do the above and if no improvement in figures it will be down to DLM having finished and stuck you on an unsuitable line code. A quick call to sky should sort that.

      Edit: Just seen your reply. Ok, do the following:

      Call 08442410515. You'll get through to sky broadband technical support - ask them if they can configure your line code from adsltwo+ to g.dmt. You may be lucky enough to get through to a tier 1 with line administration access. If they can't/don't know what that is, then tell them that you would like your 'max delays reduced' due to high ping times and a ticket raised to the customer solutions team (this is just to get through the whole procedural steps quicker). The queue is usually a bit long but it shouldn't be bad at all today (as it wasn't earlier) and then when you get through to the customer solutions team just tell them you'd like your line reconfigured. A drop down change and a figure change sorts it basically.

      What Is DLM? Everything you need to know.

      Basically a training period whereby the line is monitored and checks for re-syncs/drop outs and interprets faults/problems and will cap/re-adjust to stable speeds where necessary. Sometimes it gets it spot on, other times it just doesn't.

      Check out my first reply as I updated it a bit more. If you follow the steps you'll be sorted in 10 minutes max (assuming the queue is short).

      Right, I understand, will I lose internet connection for awhile, and how long?

      For about 40-60 seconds at most whilst it trains in after the configurations.

      Re: Slow Speeds/Speed halved

      Ok will do, Once I sort the phone out I'll give them a call, by the way, what does "adsltwo+" and "g.dmt" stand for/mean? just so I don't go asking them when I'm totally clueless.
