I'm guessing my DLM has kicked in. Bit annoyed about not receiving a letter about the DLM, luckily I'm a member of this forum otherwise i wouldn't have had a clue!

So each day will i notice in the routers settings the speed increasing? Normally id have to reboot the router to get a faster sync, obviously dont want to do this while in DLM mode!

      My line stats are:
      SNR Margin (dB) : 14.6 22.0
      Attenuation (dB) : 37.0 20.9

      Thanks
When you log onto Sky.com/my Sky/Service Details, does it say that line testing is in progress?

I will look at my router stats over the next few days and see if there is any change.

Well I can only conclude that Sky's website is not updating, I switched on this morning and I have a new set of router stats:-

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6454 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 49.0 db 27.2 db
Noise Margin 8.6 db 12.0 db

I tried a download this morning and it started at 1000kbs (have never seen it so fast ) During the remainder of the download, it levelled back down to the 670/680 region.

I am not sure if it is possible to get anymore out of my line, what do you guys think?

You are doing very well for your attenuation, trying to squeeze more out of it would probably make it unstable.

You could still get some more out of the upstream, if you wanted to that is.

TBH, I would be happy with what I am getting, it is pretty much the same as I was getting with Orange..... I have managed to half my ping with Sky which is an added bonus

Re: New Sky Unlimited member - Line tests, is this normal?

I still seem to have line testing in place, after some decent speeds I have the following this morning:-

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5024 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 49.0 db 27.1 db
Noise Margin 12.2 db 12.0 db

I will be happy when my downstream returns to the 6400 kbps range.

Is this still perfectly normal? Testing good speeds and then reducing them further??

probably won't automatically go back up...chances are the DLM engine has seen something it didn't like and capped it down...

Re: New Sky Unlimited member - Line tests, is this normal?

Did your connection drop during the night. It's possible, like with a lot of users, your noise margin drops to a low level during the evening causing a resynch to a lower speed, it then comes back up in the morning but your speed will remain low because Sky don't allow their version of DLM to adjust your speed back up. Reboot your router and you should see your speed increase again.
