      Re: Speed drop

Can you post your stats from the Test socket, link below.

It looks like DLM may be on your line and put you on ADSL2+.

That increase shows that your internal wiring is causing noise problems.
On the back of the faceplate of the master socket find terminal 3 and disconnected the ring wire as this is not needed and should help your speed and in turn allow you to achive a higher connection speed.

      Re: Speed drop

Thanks for the reply, but what increase?

Do you mean the 2.86 - 3.07 meg increase? I was getting about 4.5 meg a few weeks ago so a 0.2 meg difference between the first set of figures and the second is pretty meaningless.

Any idea what may be causing a loss of 1.5 meg?

      Re: Speed drop

No, the noise margin has increased which means when the router is directly connected to the test socket there is less noise on the line and so more speed can be attained.

The internal wiring must be at least partly to blame for this.

      Re: Speed drop

It looks like ADSL2+ has been put on your line and it is not doing too well. Just to confirm, go to Mel's Notes: Dg834gt-1skuk and click the Detailed Stats button. Post the result, not including the Ping section, as it is not required.

      Re: Speed drop

Your CRC errors are exceeding 1% which indicates you have problems on your line. If you were getting 4.5Mb before this is probably down to ADSL2. If the stats were taken from the Test socket there is not a lot you can do about it if your voice line is OK. Your test socket reading showed your internal wiring was causing a problem, but not enough to account for your speed drop. Your best bet is to phone Sky and ask them to take ADSL2 of your line and return it to G.DMT. This can only be done by CST so getting past Tier 1 to them is the biggest problem.

      Re: Speed drop

I've been having the same problem for the past few days as well.

      From a steady 4.5ish +Meg... down to 3-3.5Meg!
