      Thumbs down No connection!

      Hi
I have had sky broadband Mid package for over a year now, and no problems, then for the past few days, ive had no connection, ive done the usual resets etc and ive phoned sky a few times.
I have a netgear router and a wireless network. the top 2 lights are constant green, the next light is off and the next light flashes and sometimes stays amber.
I have also come to realise that theres a lot of interference on the telephone line and also when the phone is in use (only one phone socket in the house) the internet will work.
On the occasions ive rang sky i have been told the following:
      1) Ive done a line check, everything seems fine, call back in 24 hrs

      2) ASDL filter may have packed up, use another one from the 3 originally sent. 90% of time that works. If not take the cover off your phone socket and plug the filter directly into the uncovered socket.

      3) (Because the previous advice didnt work we plugged the splitter thats connected to the sky tv box back into the uncovered socket and plugged the asdl filter back into that) The guy was sure that it was the splitter causing the issue and to unplug that and try without it.

6 days have gone, and its still not working, same flashing amber light.
The set up at the moment is:

uncovered BT phone socket --> asdl filter --> sky splitter(connected to tv)
(asdl filter) --> phone line to connect the router

Off the sky splitter runs the household phone.
Im going to have to ring again tomorrow to escalate this further. I was hoping in the meantime someone on this forum knows what the problem is, has any tips or solutions or things that i should say to sky. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks

      Re: No connection!

If when connected to the test socket, you can hear noise on the line when on the phone then you need to contact who ever you pay the line rental too and report a noisy voice line, this also has a bad effect on the broadband signal and if left normally gets worse.

Sky talk will check this with you, but do confirm whether the noise is only audible with the router connected also. If it is only noisy whilst the router is plugged in and is clear with just a phone line into the test socket, then it's a broadband issue and needs to be escalated to the 'customer solutions team'. Usually a new router & equipment will sort it.

If it is noisy without the broadband plugged in then call sky talk and get them to sort it - from there your broadband problem should rectify itself.
