      Is it worth me upgrading my BB package?

      Hello a newbie to the forums here

      Quick question guys.

      I have moved into a brand new house 6 months ago and had sky, sky talk and sky broadband setup as soon as i moved in.

      I decided to just have the free broadband at 2 meg as BT said i could only get 2 meg anyway due to my line.

      When they first enabled my broadband it was connected at 2000kb download. After a few days it dropped to 1530kb down / 409kb up, where it has stayed ever since.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 1530 kbps 409 kbps
      Line Attenuation 55.0 db 32.2 db
      Noise Margin 7.2 db 19.0 db

      After reading a guide on the internet it says that my line attenuation should be able to connect at 4000-4500kbps.

      Obviously due to me being on the base package i wont get that speed. If i upgrade to the mid package do you think my speeds will improve and be worth the extra 60 quid?

      at the moment, no...try your test socket...

      and you'll get 4Mbps at a push on a 55dB attenuation, possibly more when off adsl2+...

      You should get around 4mb with that line attentuation unfortunately your noise margin figure suggests that there's an issue with your line. To find out whether it's a problem wikth your internal setup then do as IANTE suggests and connect your router up to your test socket as described in How to test your ADSL in the Master Socket and repost your stats.

      Make sure you have nothing but the router connected (via it's microfilter) and that any other telephone sockets are now dead.
