Am i being throttled by Sky?

I have recently noticed a drop in speed on my Sky Max account:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5024 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 20.9 db
Noise Margin 14.9 db 29.5 db

My downstream used to be around 6000 kbps, the Sky User Broadband Speed Test indicates Download 1704Kbps, Upload 196Kbps, i have an adsl faceplate fitted.

It looks like DLM is running on your line. Have a look at the Broadband Details on your My Sky page, see if it says anything about line training. It should, but very often it is not reported. You can wait about a week and see if there is an improvement or you can call Sky now and ask them if your line is training. If they say it is not, ask them to configure it as your speed is low.

Just to confirm, you are not being throttled, that is reserved for Connect users.

No you are not being throttled or any other restriction on sky max. Never have.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5024 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 20.9 db
Noise Margin 14.9 db 29.5 db

With you line attenuation of 38db you should be seeing a sync speed of around
      10 - 11mb
Your SNR of 14.9db leaves plenty scope for a higher sync speed.
Each 1 db is roughly equal to 300kbps, so if your SNR was set to 7.9db you could see a sync rate increase of 2100kbps. Add this to your current rate should give you upto 7500kbps sync.

Your up load speed is very poor. Something is amiss somewhere.

If you have a NTE5 master socket please remove the face plate and plug into the test socket and post the results.

If you have any extensions, make sure that any ring wires that are connected to the back of the master socket faceplate are disconnected as this can cause extra noise on the line and mean a slower speed.
