what do you make of my latest stats?

      Hi

I have just forced a restart of my modem and it goes to these stats which are always a max and as the day goes on prob disconnects twice and goes down around 4 to 4.5meg.

I am connected via bt filtered faceplate what do you make to my stats and i am going to o2 soon will it improve things or make them worse in terms or reliability and speed?

Looks like a noisy line, have you tried the test socket?

Did you contact BT/Sky regarding your line quality issue from the previous thread?

A SNR of below the default of 7db so an SNR of 3db points to problems with noise on your line. Either internally or externally or both.

Ring BT and tell them you have noise on your line.

If you pay line rental to Sky then ring them and tell them the same thing.

Re: what do you make of my latest stats?

Do a quiet line test, should be possible if you still have a BT line.
Dial 17070, press option 2 (quiet line test)

You should hear 'Quiet Line Test' and then silence, there should be no pops, clicks, whistles, buzzing etc. If there is noise on the line, make sure it's not your phones connection to the socket (wiggle it about a bit) and that you are using the master socket. If you are sure its the line making the noise then dial BT(or Sky) and report the problem.

PS Its highly unlikely that changing ISPs will result in any improvement, so you need to sort this first.

You were asking exacltly the same thing on your other thread New modem from sky can you tell me if stats ok? , in fact the only difference is that your noise margin seems to be lower. The advice now is the same as it was then, there clearly is a problem with your external line and until you get that sorted, by either contacting Sky or your voice provider then you're not going to see any increase in speed.

Have you actually told Sky that you're getting constant disconnections?

When using the test socket only, try and use a different microfilter and make sure only the router and nothing else is connected - also perform a full power down/up when you do this.
