      Poor speed; advice required

      Hi folks,

Moved into a new build in March and joined up with Sky; got HD, Talk, landline and Everyday Broadband services. Broadband went live in April and have the Sagem router. At the time of joining I was told I could get up to a speed of 3.5 to 4 Mbps, due to my distance from the exchange.

Initially when BB went live I was getting a speed of around 2.5Mbps. After DLM this dropped to 1.5Mbps. A few weeks ago (maybe 4/5) I did an inspection of my wiring and removed the ring wire from all sockets.

Recently, my speed has decreased further. Now I need help! If I could double my current speed I would be happy.

Here are the stats for my usual router socket:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1020 kbps 510 kbps
Line Attenuation 59.5 db 37.5 db
Noise Margin 10.4 db 9.0 db

      Master socket stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1020 kbps 474 kbps
Line Attenuation 59.5 db 37.4 db
Noise Margin 9.1 db 9.0 db

Back to my usual router location again after using master socket:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1020 kbps 457 kbps
Line Attenuation 60.0 db 37.4 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 11.0 db

Is there any chance Sky can increase my speed?

      Any help greatly appreciated!

      Thanks,

      Gordon

Phone Sky support and ask them to return your line to G.DMT as ADSL2+ is crippling it.

Brilliant - I'll try that and let you know how I get on.

      Cheers.

Phoned up those lovely customer support people and got it sorted.

I'm now running at 3.4Mbps, which I'm delighted at due to my attenuation.

Thanks very much for your help! Another happy customer!
