Moving Home - Accessing Email During Down Time?

I'll be moving home next Thursday so won't have bb from then until Sky set it up on my new number. I was just wondering the best way to access my Sky emails. I have an old Freeserve (Orange) dial up account which I could use but on my pc OE has the Sky settings. Would they work when using dial up or do I need to switch to the Orange settings? On the other hand I guess I could use the web based email service. Also, when I eventually get Sky reactivated are they likely to try change my email address? If so how do I keep the old one?

If you have told them you are moving that is half the job done, as long as your Sky TV account is not closed and restarted then you are OK. They should just update your account details with the new address details and then sort out the movement of the ADSL to the new place.

You are probably better using the Web Mail direct, rather than try to set it up on a dialup account. Many emails nowadays have embedded photos, attached video files and such like that would take ages to download at dialup speed. It will also save you a lot of bother changing the mail accounts back. Webmail also gives you the ability to look at/send emails from any location work, hotspot, library etc.

Your PC settings should work with any ISP. So long as you have the same user ID then Google should deliver the mail. I can get mail delivered to my phone no problem, or when I use my phone as a modem for my laptop.

If you are on dialup then webmail is probably better than Outlook Express at identifying large attachments or emails (though it can be done). It can also help to use 'basic HTML', which bypasses the javascript features and graphics.

Moved. Rang Sky to get BB set up at the new address yesterday. Should it now be showing on my order tracker?

It can sometimes take a few days to show on the tracker.

I gave them a call. They said 6th October. I alos got as letter that said 6th October. It's the 7th and all I have is two green lights - the on light and the wireless light. I'm going to give them a call.

Re: Moving Home - Accessing Email During Down Time?

Gave them a call this morning. They said the line was activated yesterday. Hmmm….why don't I get anything then? Will have to investigate more tonight when I'm back home and call them again. Modem was working ok at my old place.
