      Sky cst & beyond

      Hi there

I am a new user to SKY and I currently have the broadband base package at present.

I phoned up SKY today to see what was going on with my line. Got through to someone in a different part of the world who didnt really understand english much and didnt understand what I was saying to her although after several minutes of pain staking troubleshooting I was put through to cst.

Spoke to a nice girl in scotland who didnt really do much and was quite dull at the best of times. I asked her if they had many cst depts she said that they have a few but one is going very soon it took me 45 mins to get through to cst so i think it is quite absurd to close one of their depts down she didnt say were it was anyone have any info on this?

I believe the only CST depts left are in Shepton and Dunfermline (if I recall correctly). Belfast CST is going in October as there's only about 15 left and the whole CST dept are now tier 1. On the plus side, I believe sky are going to possibly give some tier 1s line configuration access - whether that be read-only or read and write, who knows. At least tier 1 will be able to see when errors are overflowing, cells being sent/received low and be able to do peoples' physical set-up some good if it is implemented and if it is read and write then they can change profiles accordingly... however, chances of that happening are slim I'd say.

Tier 1 are the first people you speak to when you call Sky's support number for Broadband issues. They're not that technically minded and are just there to weed out the simple calls that can be resolved easily and to make sure the customer has gone through all the correct troubleshooting methods before escalating the call. If they decide a call is to be escalated they then raise a ticket and it's passed on to CST (Customer Solution Team) who are the real techinical bods who actually have access to your connection and can test and configure it as necessary.

      Re: Sky cst & beyond

I just dont see the point in them taking away CST in any dept, it is just going to add more and more of a wait time for us the paying customers. I think SKY as a company need to re think what they are doing. The girl I spoke to didnt seem to know what she was doing. I am going to phone up on Monday again and speak to maybe someone else.

Why wait till Monday, the information you get relies heavily on the person you speak to on Tier 1 and some are better than others.

Well it is the weekend. I will phone up on Monday and I hope to speak to someone who knows what they are doing. I heard the Belfast support are meant to be really good. It will be shame to see them go.

They are a 24/7 operation, in fact I've found it easier to get through to a UK centre at weekends and evenings than at any other time.
