Now no extension, grey wire into new microfilter into test socket.

      Stats are:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1529 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 55.5 db 31.0 db

It's still not that great, I would be expecting a slightly higher noise margin. Did you fully reboot your router?

Still, that should see an increase in your connection speed (maybe 1mb). You'll need to contact Sky and explain that you've improved your wiring and you've seen an improvement in your router stats so could they get CST to have another look at your speed.

One last thing, when you rewired your master socket and faceplate did you use an IDC tool. If not, it maybe worth getting one and reconnect the wires just to make sure they are fully seated. I'd also consider investing in getting some homeplugs to replace that extension lead you use.

Meh, not much better. Looks to me that DLM has capped the line (seems to leave quite a few lines at 606 upload actually). You'll need to call sky on 08442 410515 through to tier 1, state you wish to have your max delays reduced (to get through to CST quicker) and get the line reconfigured. You should be able to push out more speed upon changing line code etc.

      Re: Router stats

      Hi

Phoned Sky, they said DLM finished last weekend which coinsided with my drop in speed. The CST guy increased the limit to 3Mb/s and here are my stats now:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3360 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 55.0 db 31.0 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 13.0 db

Guessing that's the limit the way my noise margin is now.

      [Edit:
Re-connected using extension and grey wire. Stats now:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3360 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.0 db 31.0 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 14.0 db

Guessing my updload rate could be better.]

      Re: Router stats

Looks like the agent forgot to change the upstream. Regardless, good result - you are correct that is all you will push out speed-wise (assuming it is the same noise margin in the test socket of course).

Did you use the 'max delays reduced' trick at tier 1 or what happened out of curiosity?

      Re: Router stats

      Hi

Might phone again with the ref number they gave me to ask about the upstream.

I said about reducing max delays, but the guy didn't know what I was talking about, although to be fair neither did I...

So I asked about DLM on my line and mentioned the speed drop since they finished it.

He filled in something asking similar questions to what you guys have asked and passed me over to Rob in CST.

Also got him to move me to Unlimited to get more than the 10Gb monthly usage. I asked him if DLM would run again, but he said he had suspended it on my line.

      Thanks for your help.

CST need to suspend DLM before they can configure lines, but if you have been moved to unlimited after the configurations then chances are the training period will happen again. You may find the ticket will have been closed unless Rob told you to monitor it and left it open. If you've been moved over to unlimited already, it may be worth your while getting back to CST and confirming DLM hasn't started again (I assume you were passed through to sales AFTER the CST call and then upgraded?)

      Re: Router stats

After phoning Sky again and convincing the tier 1 guy to let me through to the CST, stats are now:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3360 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.0 db 31.0 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 11.0 db

They said 768kbps was the max they are allowed to increase my upstream to for it to be stable.

      Re: Router stats

You have been put back on G.DMT by the look of it as ADSL2+ was messing up your line. That is the usual upload for that mode, I don't think you will do any better.

Any noise on your voice line? Dial 1 digit and listen, you should not hear anything except possibly a very faint hiss.
