first of all thankyou to everybody who took the time to help me out.

Just blagged my way through to CST by mentioning max delays, they gave me a ticket number and put me through within 2 minutes.

The guy then confirmed I was on ADSL2+ and he reverted me back to G.DMT, pushed my download and upload back up so 1.5mb down and .5 up.

Very happy now and I have a new router 2 boot

Pat on the back for all you helpful people and hopefully people will view this thread and get their speed problems sorted aswell.

      All the best.

      Mark.

      Re: Router/browser issues

      OK quick update.

Gave CST a call again last night (turns out the guy closed my call even though he told me he was leaving it open for 3 days) anyway it wasnt a problem getting another ticket raised from tier 1 by mentioning high pings and max delays. Be careful not 2 mention speed.

Anyway I plugged the router into the main BT socket before the call (as it was running off the extension) and got up to 1.7 instead of the 1.5 in the extension. This guy was very helpful and tweaked my line really well (the guy the day before also capped my line once he said he got the "best speed")

Just for any gamers out there I was in a british COD4 server last night with about 30 players and I had the lowest ping out of everybody dropping to around 28ms.

      Well impressed.

      Thanks again guys.

      New stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1728 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 4.7 db 7.0 db

      Before hand

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 381 kbps 457 kbps
Line Attenuation 71.5 db 46 db
Noise Margin 15.7 db 9.5 db

      Obviously a massive improvement

      Re: Router/browser issues

Your noise margin is low, don't be surpeised if you lose a bit of speed and your noise margin hits around the 6.9db level.
