      Re: Connection speed dropped.

Many thanks for the feedback everyone, I have now contacted sky via the online customer feedback form, and have since contacted them direct answering all the questions I received from them in their response email. I will post back any answers I may receive.

Just as a matter of interest, what phone number are people using to contact direct?

      Thanks again.

Speed has now dropped to 760kbps, my god this is annoying, why can't they just leave the lines alone, if it's unstable I'll report it! What a waste of time.

I know, totally agree with you. I've always had a slow connection, but 380k is taking the complete biscuit when I'm paying for 8 meg!!! I'm not getting a 10th of what I'm paying for, I've never had a 10th to be honest, so sort of makes you think why I'm paying 10 a month.......for what exactly????????

but he's never gonna get anywhere near it anyway with an attenuation over 60dB...so money isn't really the point...

(s)he chose to go onto Unlimited but you can't get speeds the line can't handle - that's not Sky's fault...

I know that, I wasn't having a pop at Sky, the whole pricing structure of broadband in general is flawed.

      Re: Connection speed dropped.

UPDATE: Sky have now reset my connection and I'm receiving 2Mbs which is the highest I've ever received, my upload though has gone back to 384, I guess this is because they've taken me off ADSL2?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2048 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 51.0 db 29.0 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 25.0 db

Yes, you are back on G.DMT, the drop in your attenuation confirms it. To be honest it is a low speed for your attenuation, which suggests your external line either has a fault or is of generally poor quality. Unless you have noise on your voice line, there is not much you can do about it, Sky are always very reluctant to call out BTO for broadband faults.

I'm a fair way from the exchange, apparently my absolute maximum would be 2.5-3 Mbs, I'm happy with 2 because I was only getting around 1204kbps before.

      Re: Connection speed dropped.

Not according to your stats. Your line attentuation, which is an indication of your line length, suggest you should be capable of 5-6mbps at least. What are your stats like now connected to the test socket, if you have one?
