Been with Sky for a few years now, I don't get the highest connection where I live (in a village) but it's between 1.2+1.4Mbps usually, until about 2 days ago when it dropped to 1Mbps and has been like that since, upstream has increased though from 384Kbps to 606Kbps. Here are my stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1019 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.5 db 28.7 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 15.0 db

Any ideas why this might be? I should [apparently] be getting up to 2Mbps on my line.

      Thanks
      Kev
I'm experiencing much the same error as yourself. I also have been with sky for a few years now, but my connection speeds have always been very poor due to the distance I am from the exchange (anything between 700kbps - 900kbps).

Anyway, just recently, my connection speed has dropped to around 380kbps, and has been like this for some days now. I have tried absolutely everything, even re-installing my ISP software, and changing all the filters etc.

The odd thing about the whole situation, is when I run the 'Sky Test' feature from the router, I receive the follwoing error:

"The Sky Test was unable to detect the Internet connection, error code 300"

But, I still have an internet connection that works fine, even though its only connected at 380kbps.

Does anyone have any idea's? or could my issue be similar to the new ADSL-2 connections?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem but used to get 8mbps now getting 3mbps upload has gone from 300kbps to 600 kbps, connected to the master socket.

They said I was being migrated over and to leave my modem on for testing, but I've been turning it off. Not wasting electricity on those *&$%$%s

That's fine, just don't blame anyone but yourself for your poor speed.

You are in the same position as the OP, you have put on ADSL2+ with a very long line. You will have to contact Sky.

      Re: Connection speed dropped.

Hi guys, I think I am in the same boat but will give you all my stats etc

Until recently used to connect at 3.5 to 4 meg no problems at all then I noticed a LOT more buffering whilst on Xbox/ps3 etc

Poking around I see my Connection speed has dropped right off to 506kbps, tested from the test socket on the master and all the figures are the same as when I'm hooked up to the socket in the bedroom the PC lives in so I'm pretty sure it's not my side.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 506 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 48 db 29 db
Noise Margin 31 db 19 db

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, I suspect I'm gonna be on the phone to SKY for some time....

Edit, found a previous post with what my stats used to look like:-

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5568 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 50 db 14 db
Noise Margin 7 db 13 db

You are correct! You are heavily capped and the only way to get this removed is to go through the motions with Tier 1 who will pass you to CST where it will be fixed in minutes.

Ok, I'm on DLM as well and they told me to give it 10 days to determine a stable and maximum connection, I was tempted to say no sort it out now but because the difference is neglible between 1 and 1.5 I will wait and call them back on Friday if it hasn't sorted itself out.

So why are they putting DLM on it now? Something about a line upgrade!!
