      Unhappy Sagem Firmware Fail

      Hi guys,

OK, I’ve really screwed up my router trying to be a smart **** and updating the firmware.

I’ve updated it with the Latest Sagem F@ST2404 firmware thinking it was a newer Sky one. S now I’ve got a native Sagem firmware and can’t for the life of figure out how to get it back to the Sky one, or how to connect using the Sagem firmware. I’ve put in my user name and password (obtained through the althorism website), but don’t know if it’s not connecting because of the other settings that I’ve put in… settings like ‘Connection Type’ POPPE name ect…. I can see the connection is live but it says 'Waiting for ISP'???

I’ve tried installing the firmware that came on Sky CD but it doesn’t seem to like this?

At the moment I’d just like an internet connection at all, even on the native router firmware.

I know I’ve messed up here, but before I call Sky and admit defeat can anyone offer any advice?

      FF

The connection type for sky is PPPOA, not PPPOE so that might be where you are going wrong.

Thanks for that mrmt32, I have tried a few different options I think that was one of them, but there are other options like VCI and Authorisation Type, is there a posting somewhere that might be able to give me an idea of what the full settings should be?

Thanks for that NewsreadeR, although that's a great help, when I add a 'WAN' connection it throws up loads of other options like Encapsulation Mode and Authorisation Type, there are about 4 pages of settings and I'm wondering if that's why it's not connecting properly... at the moment I've got a red LED on the internet light also...

Is there are anyway to go back to the Sky firmware? I know the Fireware install will only work with the 'recover' light flashing... is there anyway to get it into this state so I can run the recovery CD?

      Re: Sagem Firmware Fail

you should be able to configure what you've got for Sky, but without shots of the setup screens I don't know what it asks for...but the Sky FW is fine, bar the wireless issues regarding the 'Auto' channel select...

Yeah, I didn't think there was a problem but he insisted that it would work better with an upgrade!
