      Exclamation Connection Speed

      Hi Guys

      I ordered the Sky Unlimited package and had it activated about 2 weeks ago. I got the new black netgear router that looks similar to the Sky+HD box.

      I kept an eye on my connection speed for the first 10 days when they test your line with various speeds and the highest connection spped i could see was about 7MB. Its now constantly connected at 5MB and im certain i could get better than that? I live in New Malden, Surrey and according to your exchange checker im located 0.97 miles as the crow flies and 1.6 miles by road from my exchange.

      Can i phone Sky and ask if they can try get a better speed on my line? Or do i have to phone BT?

      I also detached the ring wire from my BT Socket but that didnt increase my connection speed.

      It just seems strange that im getting low connection speeds as im not located in a remote area, i mean im pretty much in London.

      Any advice would be much appreciated!

      You might have to phone Sky but don't bother phoning BT, they will do nothing for Sky Broadband, they will only handle voice line faults.
      Post your stats as requested, preferably from you normal position and from the Test socket.

      Hi guys, again sorry for the delay, been a really hectic week!

      As promised please see my connection stats below:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 5020 kbps 489 kbps
      Line Attenuation 47 db 28 db
      Noise Margin 5 db 9 db

      Let me know if you need more?

      Like i said i think i should be able to get better?

      why they horrid? i got an attenuation of 46 and 5.5Mbps...

      Whilst I wouldn't say they were horrid, they're not great either. I can get 6.5 Mbps on a 54 attentuation.

      Yip, they form the test socket.

      Im situated in New Malden, Surrey... I would really expect better connections speeds than this? When i lived in Wimbledon i connected at 14mb and was about the same distance from the exchange, however i was with BE.

      Should i give Sky a call? Or will i be waisting my time?
