Contact Sky and ask them to reduce your Max Delay setting. Probably best to use the Kana form - https://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/sk...contactus/kana for this.

Remember that lowering the max delays will lower your ping times, but there will be a small lose of speed as a result of this. How much it decreases depends on your line.

      Re: Internet speed up/down - ping 400+

If the delay is up in the 400s then something apart from the delay needs fixed, either with your PC or with your connection. It also depends on where you are testing the ping, speedtest.net for instances is complete rubbish. Try jolt or bbc.

You could also try taking a Tweak Test from the DrTCP link below, if you are running XP. If it makes recommendations, download and run the application. There are recommendations there for Vista, but normally it is good out of the box.

It may also be useful if you post your stats from your normal position and from the Test socket if you have one.Link below.

      Re: Internet speed up/down - ping 400+

      Thanks guys...

After some investigation I've found it to be one of my PC's... I've swapped over the Ethernet cable but this has made no difference... when this PC is connected by pings are anything between 200 and 700; without they're down to 50(ish)

Do you think there is a driver (I've tried updating the driver) or hardware fault? Could it be Vista 64bit?

      any ideas?

      cheers in advance....

It could be down to bandwidth issues - when both computers are connected sharing the bandwidth. What is the pc in question like ping-wise when it is the only one connected and the other(s) are disconnected from the router? Out of curiosity, post up your stats as well.

You might also want to check your noise margin with a) the suspect PC connected. and b) with it disconnected. A faulty PSU can badly effect the noise margin, which in turn will slow the connection and your ping.

      Do you mean these stats?

I will test the machine when it's the only thing connect to my network; I do have the following usually connected and didn't have issues until last week:

      Buffalo Link Station
      PS3 x 2
      PC
      Laptop x 2

The connection seems fine most of the time; even when the pings are high..

I still get a good download speed...

Can you post a set with the suspect machine disconnected?
