Seriously slow speed on max package

After dealing with having a pretty slow connection for a while now I thought I should really do something about it considering I should be getting MUCH higher speeds.
I should be getting speeds up to 16Mb/s but the results from a speed test shown below shows that it is a very different matter.

There must be something going seriously wrong here.
I know there is lots of other "my speed is too low" threads but with my speed being so much lower than what I should get I thought maybe there might be an obvious solution to my problem.
      Thanks

Re: Seriously slow speed on max package

      Ok, there is something amiss.
Your line attenuation should see you syncing at around 7 meg.
However your noise margin is more than twice what it should be which suggestds you have a problem with your wiring or you are capped.
This will explain stats better than me :-

Can you post another set of stats from your test socket ?
Sky User - How to test your Master Socket
Its also possible that Sky have you on the incorrect profile as your upsync on max should be at least 760ish prior to dlm and upto 1000ish after. However that doesnt alter the fact your dl sync should be higher.

Re: Seriously slow speed on max package

I'll test using the master socket sometime tomorrow.
Basically, if my speeds are increased using that, it is a problem with wiring, and if they stay the same I am capped?

Your speeds wont change if you are capped, what should change is the noise margin.

Definately. Have quite a number or documents confirming I am on Max.

Unfortunately I'm having trouble finding the master socket....

Is it possible to test for wiring problems by disconnecting other devices using the phone line?

sort of yes, but if the extension you're on is faulty then you won't know until using the test socket (asuming you've got one)...

It is usually the first on the line into your house. Look for one like that shown in the Test socket link below. If you don't have one of these look for one with a capacitor and other bits inside. If you have one of these remove the ring wire from the No 3 terminal behind the faceplate. This is not required and can cause interference.
