      On or Off?

      Hi All

I've just received an email from Sky informing me that I'm changing from Mid to Everyday, and that testing will be carried out on my connection over the next few weeks.

I'm going on holiday for 3 weeks very soon and I always disonnect my router (and hide it!) when I go away. Are there any potential problems doing this? Am I just being paranoid by disconnecting it anyway?

      Cheers, Dave

Others will disagree but I would leave it on. You will not be switching off your freezer will you? There is as much chance of that bursting into flames as your router.

Whether it would effect DLM if it was off, is debatable, if it does not find a router on the line it may just turn off and wait till it is connected again, then carry on doing its thing.

      Cheers Tom

I wasn't actually too concerned about it self-igniting! I was more concerned about the security aspect.

I don't think there is anything to worry about there. Unplug it from your PC just in case you get a lightning strike that could fry your board and turn off the wireless so you can be sure no one can gain access.
