      Slow speed

Hello I have seen the above title on several threads, I do apologise but I would like some help having been through the Sky resolution service. And now passed to BT with a line fault. The problem is as follows

today I checked my router stats page

connection 640 kbps downstream 448 kbps upstream
line attenuation 57 db and 31.5 db
noise margin 24.1 db and 18.0 db

on reset back to factory settings for the router I get the following

connection 2720 kbps downstream and 448 kbps upstream
line attenuation 57 db and 31.5 db
noise margin 12.2 db and 18 db

with the obvious increase in speed, if you are able to pass on past experience I will be grateful.

      Thank,s Alan

      Re: Slow speed

I see you are on the connect package, which means that there is not much that can be done, the only thing you could do is phone sky and ask them to increase the speed a bit more and see what happens, it could just go back down again to what it is now.

I would also say try the test socket as well if you have extensions, the link below will give details how to do that and post back the stats here.

      Re: Slow speed

thank,s for the reply, but sky have now moved me to the max package. At Sky,s request I moved the router to the test socket it made no difference. Ie it still dropped to 0.5 of a meg. With the same stats.

Could you post the new stats.

Also behind the master faceplate if you have any extensions make sure that there isn't a wire connected to terminal 3, this is the ring wire and can cause slow speed if connected. If it is just pull it out.

If Sky have moved you, you will not have the same stats. Post them to be sure.

      Re: Slow speed

Sorry I have not got back in touch sooner but had to work. Told Sky that if they did not sort the problem ie slow speed then I was happy to move to BT vision. This was after being kept waiting to speak to the resoultion team again for another hour before hanging up. And completing the Sky enquiry form stating this , it has now been three days at 2.5 meg. Which I am happy with but no contact from Sky!!! I will monitor but hopefully now sorted.

      Thank,s Alan

      Re: Slow speed

Sorry about the delay Sky have now supplied a new black router stats as follows

      Router in bedroom DS 3040 US 448 LA 56 and 31 N 11 and 22
Router in master socket with ADSL filter DS 3200 US 448 LA 56 and 31 N 10and 21
      Router in test socket US 3136 DS 448 LA56 and 31 N 10 and 21

New router suppied by Sky due to fluctuations in the upstream and downstream readings eventually settling at 736 kbps.and us 448.

      Yours Alan

      Re: Slow speed

I haven't read the thread in detail, but you mentioned earlier that you were moved to the unlimited package, but you are still on connect.

If your sync speed is fluctuating, then there is something that can be done by sky (sky cannot configure offnet - connect - customers so it has to be handed over to BTWholesale) but really whenever the sync is sorted, your throughput is going to fluctuate due to the throttling anyway. It's kind of a long winded process that you're going to end up with problems either way.

Are you still getting fluctuating sync speeds with the new router in the test socket?

No you haven't, you are still on Connect. If Sky told you you had been moved to LLU, you really need to take them to task on this, they have lied.
