Question Am i able to increase my dl speed / reduce ping? help

Hi i was just wondering if anything could be done to increase my download speed or lower my pings through sky

      Some information you may want

      Sky max 16mb

      Speed test on this website
Your download speed is 5240Kbps. Your upload speed is 608Kbps.

      According to speed test.net
      68ms download 7.34mb/s upload 0.64mb/s Distance <50 miles

I have also done a ping test to jolt.co.uk

As I said in reply to your other post, include your stats from the normal position and from the Test socket. Your speed is very low.

How to get your router statistics

      Test socket - link below.

Re: Am i able to increase my dl speed / reduce ping? help

Can you confirm that the stats are from the Test socket , exposed by removing the bottom part of the Master socket? Also that you are plugged in directly and not using a telephone extension cable?

Your attenuation is the lowest I have ever seen, you should be able to get 20Mb down and 1.3Mb up quite easily.

You are still on G.dmt which gives a Maximum download of 8Mb. When your line goes under DLM training it will be changed to ADSL2+ which should give you the full speed. If you don't want to wait, what you should do is phone Sky and tell them you are a gamer and would like your delay reduced. (don't mention speed at this stage) You should be put straight through from Tier 1 to CST. When you are there ask the agent to increase your speed and adjust your Delay.

To get the best from your line be plugged into the Test socket using the supplied RJ11 cable with no extensions.

noone will get 1.3Mbps...I saw an upstream attenuation of 1 the other day and that only got 1.1Mbps...downstream attenuation was 3 and had 20Mbps though...

Thats good, Sky do have some very good support staff, getting to them is the difficult part.

Re: Am i able to increase my dl speed / reduce ping? help

So it says i can get 16mb/s but i only get 1.6mb/s
says i can do 650kb/s upload but i can only do 65kb/s
This is the sync speed of your connection in Megabits

This the amount in Megabytes you can down load at this speed, eg downloading a 160Mb file would take 100 seconds.

The upload is the same. You would normally expect to get between 85-90% of you sync speed as actual download/upload speed.
