      Opening ports question.

      Hi,

I have been trying to open a port for 4 hours but with no luck.

I have read the guide on this forum and on portforwarding.com and i think i have done it correctly but i still cannot play multiplayer and the portforwarding port checker says the ports are closed.

It is mainly the LAN server IP address field that i am unsure about. I have tried entering and i have also tried entering which is what appears in the game. I also just tried what portforwarding.com says is my external IP address but it gave an illegal IP addess error.

Also just as a test how would i go about opening all my ports? I just want to try this to make sure that its not actually a windows problem or some other software.

      Re: Opening ports question.

The IP address must be the same as the PC/Console you are using.

Open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all that will show the address of your PC. When you find it go to the LAN IP set up in the router and reserve this address. Each time you log on you will be given the same address. Use this to forward the ports to.

Opening all the ports will only open your router to attack and will not help you.
