    Disconnecting 5+ times an hour

This is a discussion on Disconnecting 5+ times an hour within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; It's an old socket. Is there a wire there I should take out?...

It is difficult to see with your picture, but just look for terminal 3, if there is a wire on it pull it off. One thing I do notice is that one of the blue wires seems to be pulled as bare wire is showing. Is this wire properly fixed in the connector?

      EDIT
I only see one cable going into the box, do you have an extension?

Sorry is that a better pic? There's only 1 orange wire that's connected from what I can see.

Pull out the orange wire, this is the ring wire going to your extension(s).

Yes, your noise margin has increased quite a bit. This is the important thing as it shows you have a lot of speed in hand. I would leave things as they are for a couple of days and let DLM do its thing. If you don't see an improvement, then you can phone Sky.

Sky just got back to me. They suspended DLM and made some manual adjustments, they said there was no cap on my line.

Anyway here are the new stats:

      I'm getting nearly 5 mb download so that's a 2mb improvement

      Thanks

Thats much better speed, you just need the upstream speed increased now then that is spot on.
You may have to ring and ask for the upstream to be increased because they have disabled DLM.

Re: Disconnecting 5+ times an hour

At around 9-10pm everyday this week I lose connection. The Internet light on the router goes orange and I have to manually reset the router (turn the plug off and back on) to get a connection. This happened all last year but only like once or twice a week. So far the router has been sync'ing at 5mb in the day. Around 9-10pm it will lose connection, when I put it back on I get around 3mb.

Anyone know what could be causing this? I've tried my line and there's no noise that I can hear. I really don't want to go back to having 3mb download all the time
