      Re: Cease and reprovide

In a nutshell, they will cease your current broadband account and re-provide you with a new account. It can take up to 10 days to do so.

do they disconnect your line for the time you are disconnected and reprovide you with a new line, am a little confused as our line was ceased today and we are still able to go onto the internet.

      Re: Cease and reprovide

Under normal conditions the line will be ceased and the reprovide can take up to 10 days from that date, in the meantime there'll be no broadband active on your line - I believe this is more of a contractual process rather than not being physically able to the reprovide eariler. However, it may be that Sky have worked with BTO to perform the reprovide immediately as you're not actually cancelling your service with Sky.

Have a look in the router log.. That may let you know if your line has been changed. In the log it should show the line has been down for some minutes before it reconnected. If it shows you were down but only for a few seconds, that is probably a normal resync and nothing has been done yet.

      Re: Cease and reprovide

it was fine the day before the cease when we were basically floating around without a provider and now last night the same thing so i am not sure what to think, but i will give them the benefit of the doubt that it may take up to 10 days to move back across and change over everything.
