Re: "Sky Broadband is about to get faster" email

I got my email about a week or so ago and have started my upgrade on the 22nd

I was at 16mb around 15708kbps and now I'm at:

      Download - 22014kbps LA - 15.5 NM - 7.3
      Upload -1065kbps LA - 8.9 NM - 8.0

      So I'm a happy bunny atm ^.^

Been connected for 30 hours or so now.

      Download - 22014kbps LA - 15.5 NM - 7.3
That is the highest speed recorded. Well over the maximum 20Mb. You must be very close to the exchange.

This is what the exchanger checker says:

      Distance:- Direct:
      0.29 mi
      (appx)*By Road:
      0.4 mi

So It isn't too far away. Really good phone line though.

Re: "Sky Broadband is about to get faster" email

Got the email about 3 hours ago so not expecting anything anytime soon.

The funny thing is that my "broadband service details" page reckons:

When you purchased Sky Broadband, we estimated that the maximum download speed for your line was: 1.0Mb
and here I am on a 6.4Mb connection

Got the email 17 Aug and I've had NO increase and my estimated sped is 6mb but my actual speed has always been 16383 kbps.

      Exchanger checker says
      Distance:- Direct:
      0.55 mi
      (appx)*By Road:
      1.5 mi

      Router Stats:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16383 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 25.5 db 15.6 db
Noise Margin 7.7 db 15.5 db

Re: "Sky Broadband is about to get faster" email

You are unlikely to get much more on your download but your upload should improve. It does not look like DLM has run on your line yet. If it is over a month since you received the email, phone Sky and ask for your upload to be increased, they may give you a bit more on download, but it would not be much.

I got it on the 22nd also, no DLM here.
I shouldn't have to phone them, they should've just e-mailed me when they were actually going to do it instead of getting my hopes up :P

If you mean you got the email on the 22nd of this month, then it can start anything upto 2 weeks later I think from what i have read, it can also start sooner it all depends.
