      sky max problems

i upgraded to the max package and my speed went from about 7meg up to 15meg
and that was fine for about 2 months then all of a sudden it started playing up where the connection was dropping out and when looking at the router stats my upload and download were going to 0 but the line was still gaining sync, i called sky who made some changes which helped for about 3 days then the same happend, they have now line my line profile which i have the stats below, dissopointed they halfed the upload also.

i tried factory reseting the router and swapping out filters and going directly from the engineer test socket behind the face plate and unplugging all the sky tv stuff.

Its sound like DLM maybe did something.
You need to phone sky and ask for the speed to be increased the down and up speed, at the moment you are capped get through to CST and they will sort the speed out.

A typical Sky reaction, don't try to find out what is wrong, just cap the line. If you have extensions, plug into your test socket and post the stats from there.

You might also like to do a quiet line test by plugging a corded phone, on its own, directly into the Test socket. Dial 17070 option 2 and listen. If there are any crackles or pops, report it to your phone provider as a fault on the voice line. Don't mention broadband or they are unlikely to do anything.

How come his upstream SNR is at 6db, when I asked CST to set my noise margin to this they said it can only be set to as low as 7db.

The noise margin varies from second to second, depending on the line conditions. 6.9dbs is the Sky default, all his noise margin indicates is that his line conditions have deteriorated since the line was set. If it continues to go down, his connection will drop.

I think there is still a problem with the line as the download has been capped, to stabilise it. He should really be getting 14-15 Mb. Many would not be happy with this.

You are definitely in the minority here, most want to suck the last kb out of their connection, whether their line is stable or not..

looks so, i dont know why anyone would prefer a much higher speed with dropping connection then a good stable connection
